Opvoeding moet aantal ongelukken doen dalen.
Week lang aandacht voor (her)opvoeding
Wrakken als triest voorbeeld
Declaring that education is the key to help improve driving behaviour and prevent road accidents, Iraklion Traffic Police Chief Manolis Halkiadakis proudly displayed the week-long exhibition at Eleftherias Square.

The display kiosk was manned by two smartly uniformed traffic police officers who were available to answer questions and offer valuable tips and advice regarding issues on road safety.
The kiosk was framed by two completely demolished cars and motorcycles, obviously involved in road fatalities, to serve as a grisly reminder of the tragic result of bad driving.
The exhibition offered informative booklets, for children and adults, explaining traffic signs as well as the driving code and correct driving behaviour. At other times, passer-bys watched the alco-test in operation, as well as a radar checking speed. Also, a lottery was held with the winner receiving a motorcycle helmet.

Another event in conjunction with the exhibit was a lecture at the Astoria hotel where Chief Halkiadakis, forensic examiner M. Mihalodimitrakis and the president of ambulance services, D. Vourvahakis, spoke about correct driving behaviour and road safety.
The chief said that the traffic police were always readily available to set up the kiosk, and/or hold seminars in any municipality upon request.
